Description

Spearmint is secondly known as garden mint or lamb mint where this species belongs to Lamiaceae. Spearmint is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows 30cm to 100 cm, the flowering months are July to September. Spearmint essential oil contains aromatic compounds including R-(–)-carvone, causing the distinctive smell. There are few compounds insignificant amount including limonene, dihydrocarvone, 1,8-cineol, menthol, and menthone. Spearmint essential oil’s wonderful refreshing aroma make it robust product to deal with a number of health concerns such as diarrhea, indigestion, gas, bile duct, gallbladder, and gall stones. This natural product is effective to deal with hair growth, chronic migraine, hair treatment and hair loss.

Blends Well With

Spearmint essential oil is blend well with Basil, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lavender and Jasmine.

Major Constituents

This natural product contains the following major constituents - a-pinene, b-pinene, carvone, 1,8-cineole, linalool, limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene and menthol.

Uses

Spearmint essential oil is quite helpful for digestive problems where it can be used for different health concerns like – constipation, flatulence, diarrhea, and nausea. Spearmint oil is one of the best natural products used for acne, dermatitis, congested skin and sore gums. It’s also used in aromatherpay, as this natural product has potential to reduce the stress level, anxiety and depression. It’s also quite effective to lower blood sugar levels.

Caution

Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
