The avocado tree originates from the tropical and subtropical areas of the Americas. It was discovered’ here by the Spaniard in the fifteenth century and then brought to Europe.

This wonderful dark rich green carrier oil is cold pressed from the dried flesh of avocado pears which have been damaged and therefore are not of a high enough quality for marketing. True cold-pressed avocado oil is not very common and therefore the refined oil, which is a pale yellow colour, is usually sold However, unrefined, cold-pressed oil is the one to use. If there is a deposit present, and if the oil is a rich green colour then this indicates has not been through an extensive refining process. Avocado used in many cosmetic preparations including lipsticks, cream lotions and shampoos. An avocado pear may be crushed are applied to the skin to counteract dryness after a holiday in the sun, although avocado oil is far less messy!

It also has a distinctive aroma similar to the ripe fruit. Avocado oil is rich in lecithin, vitamins A, B and D, minerals as well saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. It has a long shelf-life.

moisturizes and softens all types of skin

beneficial for dry, dehydrated skin as it is such a highly penetrative oil

soothes skin inflammation

prevents premature ageing
helps to heal the skin

may help poor circulation
maintains suppleness and elasticity of the skin
offers some protection from the sun and is sometimes mixed with sesame oil for this purpose.

Avocado oil is usually added to a blend in up to a 10 per cent dilution.

Special precautions:

A very safe oil which does not cause sensitization, but do not use the colourless, refined, bleached oil.
