What is Lip Balm?

Petroleum jelly or another ointment is frequently used to make lip balm, which is used to soothe and moisturize the lips. It was initially a component of lipstick but quickly gained popularity as a standalone item.

ADVANTAGES OF USING LIP BALM?

Using lip balms will help keep your lips moisturized and supple. They expedite the healing process and offer much-needed protection from adverse weather and harmful sun rays.

They offer an occlusive layer on the lip surface that helps keep moisture in the lips sealed and shields from exposure to the outside world.

ESSENTIALS FOR MAKING HOMEMADE ORANGE LIP BALM

Virgin Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a wonder substance that has been used for centuries for its therapeutic and moisturizing effects. It is an ideal natural remedy for chapped lips due to its nourishing fatty acid content, vitamins, and minerals that make it a prime ingredient to calm and soften skin.

Shea Butter: Shea Butter is rich in vitamins, fatty acids, and other healthy ingredients that are great for skin. It softens lips and offers anti-aging advantages like lowering pigmentation and lip lines. Additionally, it is known to shield lips from environmental harm. It is well known for having anti-inflammatory properties that soothe and hasten the healing of chapped, dry, inflamed lips.

Beeswax: Beeswax has numerous advantages for lips in addition to acting as a binder. It is an excellent ingredient for lip balms because it contains natural emulsifiers that aid in retaining moisture. Additionally, it helps shield lips from damaging UV rays. It is a natural ingredient free of alcohol, parabens, and other synthetic chemicals that can irritate skin.

Sweet orange essential oil: For a number of reasons, orange essential oil is a great addition to this homemade lip balm. It smells fantastic, which might even improve your mood. This oil’s antioxidant properties aid in preventing sun damage brought on by UV rays and pollution.

How to make Orange Lip Balm at home?

Making lip balm at home is an easy and efficient solution that only needs a few readily available ingredients. All the ingredients only need to be melted and combined before you can start using them. So Quick & Easy!

Ingredients:

Virgin Coconut Oil, 2 tbsp.

1 tbsp Herbal butter

1 tbsp. Beeswax

Oil of Sweet Orange, 3–5 drops

Natural colorant, 1-2 drops (optional)

Method:

Here is a simple, step-by-step recipe for making homemade lip balm that you can complete in a short amount of time.

Beeswax, Sheabutter, and Coconut oil are measured in a beaker.

By adding 1-2 inches of water to a large saucepan, create a double boiler, and then bring the water to a boil.

Put the glass measuring cup containing the ingredients in the middle of the saucepan once the water has boiled.

As soon as everything is melted, stir occasionally.

Remove from heat once all the ingredients have melted, then let it stand for two to three minutes.

Now stir in the Sweet Orange essential oil.

Mixture should be poured into containers. Don’t fill it too high.

Before capping lip balm, let it cool for 18 to 20 hours.

Apply twice daily for best results.

To keep this lip balm firm, keep it away from heat and sunlight. This lip balm can be used within six months.

How Can Lip Balm Avoid Holes?

You might occasionally notice a tiny hole in the middle of your lip balm. As lip balm hardens and solidifies, this occurs. Fill the tubes almost to the top to prevent this. After 10 minutes, add a little more of the melted mixture to fill the hole at the top.
