DESCRIPTION

Citral is a pale yellow liquid with having a strong lemon odour. It mainly occurs in the essential oils of the plant. This product is soluble in ethanol while insoluble in water.

APPLICATIONS

Used in perfumery for its citrus effect and as a flavor and for fortifying lemon, also in the synthesis of vitamin A, ionone.

NATURAL OCCURRENCE

Found in the oils of several plants, including lemon myrtle (90-98%), Litsea citrata (90%), Litsea cubeba (70-85%), lemongrass (65-85%), lemon tea-tree and so on.
